Theme: Coming of age event each event shows how Anne learned a new lesson in each and is starting to grow up.

Text Evidence: "I've learned a new valuable lesson today. Ever since I came to Green Gables  I've been making mistakes, and each mistake has helped to cure me of some great shortcoming."

Summary:When Anne is playing with her friends she gets into some trouble. While pretending to play dead she gets herself into a life threatening situation when her boat starts to leak. Help arrives and teaches Anne a new lesson.

Characters: Anne Shirley, Ruby Gillis, Jane Andrews, Diana Berry, Gilbert Blythe, Marilla, and Mathew.

Setting: Diana's pond.

Conflict: Person v.s.fate. Anne being in the sinking dory.

Figurative Language: Hyperbole (exaggeration)

Point of View: Third person.

Text Evidence: Anne and Diana had spent most of their playtime that summer on and about the pond.
